02/14/2010 - Congratulations to our Valentine's Day Essay Winners!

Congratulations to our Valentine's Day Essay Winners, Brooke Stile and her Fiance, Brian! We thank them and everyone for sharing their unique essays with us! We hope everyone has a most wonderful Valentine's Day!

Brooke has given us permission to share her heart-warming essay. Please enjoy.

"In, November of 2007, I lost my husband suddenly. He had a congenital heart disease in which we did not know about that in turn caused him to have a massive heart attack at the age of 30. My rock and the love of my life were gone. Although devastated, I had a 1 year old to take care of and an education to finish. So, with the help of my amazing family and friends I didn?t completely lose my mind and I finished cosmetology school.
In July of 2008, Brian lost his wife after a long battle with a rare lung disease. She was on the lung transplant list at Shams Hospital when both of her lungs collapsed and Brian had to make the difficult decision of letting her go. Although heartbroken, he has continued on his late wife?s legacy by keeping the Foundation she started alive, The Rachel Nate?s Breath of Hope Foundation. He also does public speeches for Organ Donation and has become a successful businessman.
Shortly after losing his wife, a mutual friend of ours gave him my email/MySpace information explaining to him that I had recently lost my husband and that maybe we would be good support for each other. So for about a year we emailed each other back and forth and helped each other through a very difficult time. There were many times when we were down and didn?t know where to turn and we got inspiration from each other. He had become a very good friend of mine even though I had never met him.
One day I contacted him through email letting him know that I wanted to start a young widow/widowers support group and I wanted to know if he was interested in doing it with me. He loved the idea and we made an appointment to meet and talk about all our ideas.
Let?s just say it was love at first sight on both ends. I couldn?t understand why I felt so uncontrollably happy the moment I met him. We had talked so much through email and I never expected to be smitten when I met him, but I was! We talked for a good 2 hours and later that week we made plans to hang out, just as friends. Half way through dinner he said, ?Let?s be honest. This is a date, right?? From then on it has been amazing.
My son adores Brian as if he was his own dad, which truly touches my heart every day. Now we are engaged to be married, and we couldn?t be more excited to start our lives together.
I know it sounds cheesy but Brian and I believe that we are truly a match made in heaven. We both thought that there was no way we would get to experience love again in its true form because we already had our loves of our lives. So, I guess some people get two loves of a lifetime, luckily."
